Vision: To become the premier Greek letter foundation in its resources and services to the Bay Area.

Mission: Bay Area Sigmas Inc. aims to serve humanity by providing educational, economic, and social services assistance to residents of the San Francisco Bay area. Our organization strives to model a culture of service by promoting the principles of brotherhood, scholarship and service.

Our premier programs, the Sigma STEM Club and the Sigma Beta Club are free mentorship programs designed for 6th to 12th grade male students in Oakland and surrounding areas and staffed by volunteers from the Alpha Nu Sigma chapter of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. The Sigma Beta Club offers unique opportunities to exemplify wholesome values, leadership skills, educational enhancement, business training and development, and social and cultural awareness to male youths at a most critical stage in their personal development. Members receive year round academic assistance and leadership development at the middle and high school levels. This happens through one-on-one and group approaches to tutoring of Sigma Beta Club members and after school and weekend tutoring. Additionally, Sigma Beta Clubs develop partnerships with local institutions, inclusive of colleges and universities, community colleges and trade schools. The Sigma Beta Club of Alpha Nu Sigma Chapter has a decades long  track record providing critical support to Sigma Beta Club members. Your tax deductible donation will support these young men at this critical stage of development.

Moreover, our Foundation invests in four core areas: 1) Education and Youth Development, 2) Community Impact and Development, 3) Economic Advancement, 4) and Health and Wellness. The investments are made in promising programs and advocating for policies that have the best opportunity to bring equity to all. The funding is provided through grants, human capital (in-kind professional service volunteers), scholarships, and in-kind donations.

My passion is serving the community and ensuring our young men have the best opportunities to succeed but I cannot do this alone. I need partners like you who share our common goal with a defined interest to improve our community and maintain it. I invite you to walk with us and serve a greater purpose for the good of our community.

Kindest Regards,

Ira J. Young,
